Wellness Warriors Ministry: We believe in the value of exercise, and that for most people it is an essential aspect of overall good health, having myriad health benefits. Our Wellness Warriors Ministry offers seminars on Exercise, weight control, spiritual health, nutrition, optimal health and many other topics for any small group in the community. For this athletic event we seek to attract youth of all ages and to encourage them about walking and running and the great fellowship it can provide. Also, families are encouraged to participate together in either the 5K or the 1 Mile walk/run; what a super way to enjoy an active, and fun Saturday morning. Finally and importantly, we seek to have as many seniors participate as possible. As we get a bit older, all of us need more, not less exercise; walking is a nearly ideal activity that we can do slowly, briskly, or even very fast. Did you know that there are many folks who do ‘race walking’? Also, some Bible researchers believe that Jesus likely walked ~ 21,000 miles during His time on earth .. Christian Runners Ministry: Our Christian Runners Ministry seeks to provide an encouraging Christian witness for fellow athletes. We often have a devotion and prayer before race events, we encourage wearing shirts with Christian messages to races, and assist in training fellow runners. Team 413 is a worldwide Christian Runners ministry that promotes the Bible verse: Philippians 4:13 which states “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” We often wear their shirts to races and invite you to do that also if you would like. This running gear can be purchased at Team413.org. This event is supported by the Panhandle Runners and Triathletes Club, a , local organization that promotes excellence in walking, running and sporting events. Their mission is to encourage people of all ages to embrace a healthy lifestyle through running, group training sessions and community races. Club meetings are at 6PM on the 2nd Thursday of the month. You can download a membership form on their website (www.blog.panhandlerunners.com ); annual membership is only $20.00.The club sponsors several races annually including the ’18 Mile Draggin Tail Challenge and 5K’ in Sunny Hills, Florida; this year’s event is on Saturday, November 19, 2011. Do not miss this exciting test of your perseverance! Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (NIV). Comments: What does it mean to ‘hope’ in the Lord? Hope implies both trust and patience. Trust involves confidence in God’s power to deliver and faith that He will keep His promises. Hoping in the Lord also implies patience to wait for God’s promises since God works according to His own timing. If we really ‘hope in the Lord’, we will be constantly seeking His Face, and being bound together with Him, we will be desirous of carrying out His will. God promises to give strength for the journey in order that we may ‘run’ and not be weary.
